Austria, Innsbruck - ski, hotels & restaurants
Innsbruck is a colorful, picturesque city nestled in the Austrian Alps.
Is my 5th and our 4th time on the Austrian slopes - we have been in the area in 2018, 2019, 2023 and this year, 2024! Have been to Sölden, Ischgl and Patscherkofel - the later is very easy to reach from the airport and seems more family oriented.
Since haven’t found much info online, thought of summarising our experience here - maybe it helps few of you.
We are always flying Amsterdam - Innsbruck via, Transavia. The flight is 1h30'!
From the airport you have 2 options :
- rent a car (usually we use Sixt)
- take the city bus - the city has a very good public transportation and brings you straight to the city or the slopes (it costs around 2.5 euro/pp and usually your acommodation provides you free bus pass for the duration of your stay)
Usually we stay 1 night in Innsbruck to visit the city and walk around and later we move to a small village, Lans for ski, spa and good food. There is nothing else to do in the village which makes it perfect for us as we are traveling to Austria for ski and relaxation. One time we also went to the Aqua Dome in Längenfeld which was the SPA paradise. More info below.

Acommodation (where I would go again) :
Hotel Römerhof - stayed here once in 2019. Is very close to the slopes and has a very cute and romantic breakfast. The reason why we chose for another hotel for our upcoming trips was the restaurant part (that is not available) and the pool. Rather than that, a cute hotel with a cute dog (as co-owner :) ) in a very good location for ski. More details here : https://roemerhof-igls.at/en/
AQUA DOME Therme in Längenfeld - stayerd here in 2019 and was MAGIC. Loved the place very much - is more like a getaway vacation in SPA paradise. Food, location, room view, SPA everything was very very nice. https://www.aqua-dome.at/en/
Hotel Der Walz - We found this place in 2019 while we had dinner there. Since they have amazing restaurant and SPA and even a room for play for children we decided to book it in the next trip. It became our favourite go to place and it feels like home now whenever we travel there. Staff is super friendly, food is delicious (you can choose half board or food from the menu) and the outside pool is very relaxing. https://www.der-walzl.at/en/lans.html
Restaurants (where I would go again) :
Restaurant Der Walz, Lans
Restaurant zum Wilden Mann, Lans
Haepinest, Innsbruck - for good coffee and sweets
Weisses Rössl, Innsbruck
Das Kofel, Igls - restaurant 2000m high. You can get there only by cable car. The view is stunning. Food is so and so, more fast food style, but Hugo is delicious! Hugo-ul este delicios! https://www.kofel-hausberg.at/kofel/
Restaurants (on our list for next time) :
- Gasthof Isserwirt , Lans
- Die Wilderin, Innsbruck
Hope you enjoyed and let me know if you are visiting Innsbruck and have other questions!
