Amsterdam - where to eat and drink

Living in Amsterdam for almost 11 years and being a foodie, I have tasted a numerous range of restaurants and bars so I am happy to share with you my favourite picks!

Restaurants – Rivierenbuurt :

• Visaandeschelde

Lunch & Dinner. One of my favourite restaurants in Amsterdam specialized in fish (vis). Everything is very fresh, tasty and beautifully presented. The service is also very good which makes it a perfect place for a special occasion and not only! We have celebrated here many milestones and we will always come back with pleasure.

• Strandzuid

Lunch & Dinner. This is my favourite place during summer, but also a great place in any other season! They have a beach club next to the restaurant where you can even get some sun tan on special beds. The atmosphere is relaxed and everyone is welcome - from dogs to kids and ofcourse adults :) Food is similar to a beach restaurant which makes it fast delivered and easily enjoyable.

• Amstel Boathouse:

Lunch & Dinner. An amazing place during the sunny days with a beautiful view over Amstel. Very relaxing, easy going, good food and nice drinks. Overall a nice atmosphere. During cold season, there is enough place inside to enjoy the food, the drinks and the gezelligkeit.

• D&A Hummus

Lunch & Dinner. One of the best hummus that is currently available in Amsterdam. Atmosphere is very relaxed, usually no big waiting time and the staff is always very friendly. There are 3 locations : Jordaan, Zuid and Oost. My to go dish is the hummus roasted veggies paired with a fresh homemade lemonade.

• Kaia

Lunch & Dinner. KAIA is a contemporary Greek restaurant-bar opened recently in Europaplein, focused on high dine and luxury experience. Their food is very beautiful plated and elegantely served, inspired by the greek cuisine. We have been there once for an anniversary and we have enjoyed their food.

• Krusta

Lunch & Dinner. Krusta is the small brother of the KAIA restaurant, sharing the same owner and focusing on a more exquisite pizza experience. My favourites are the truffle and pear gorgonzola pizza.

• The Traveller

Lunch & Dinner. A lively place with nice cocktails where you travel in the world of food where you will find easy food for all taste buds - from bites, to sushi, guacamole, fish, veggies and steak. They have a terrace for sunny days and also a welcoming interiour.

• Quinnies :

Kids focused. Coffe & Lunch. This is a lovely shop in the neighbourhood made by a lovely mom, for moms (and dads, ofcourse) and their children. You can sip your coffee while enjoying your child playing with preloved toys, but also you can find little gems - such as books, toys and clothes for your little one (both preloved and new with tags). It is open daily, Monday to Saturday from 09-17:00 and is a very welcoming place for everyone.

• Vascobelo Rijnstraat

Coffe & Lunch. Vascobelo is a known chain in Netherlands for their tasty coffee. The location in Rijnstraat is very cosy and welcomes everyone - including little children and dogs. They have quite a big variety of breakfast and lunch options and the food tastes good.
